Professions

At character creation, pick one of the following professions. You may learn a formula from this profession at any time in game play provided you find a teacher. The learning process should take at least half an hour of roleplay, and you can never learn more than two formula per event.  

Experimenting: Learning formula can also be done through experimentation. This process is exhausting and sometimes even dangerous, but it can allow individuals to gain access to formula in their profession they might not have access to otherwise. 

Hobbyist Formula: Furthermore, you can learn up to three formula from a profession that you do not have. If you wish to learn another, you must abandon one of your prior three. (These formula count as trained, and take ten minutes to complete.)

Apothecary
"They came bearing firearmes and swords with intentions of taking what remained of the harvest. We lost four men in the fight, whilst six others are wounded. According to the apothecary, they are expected to survive under careful and constant ministration."

By taking the Apothecary profession you gain three random Apothecary formula and you may spend 1 Resolve and 10 minutes of roleplay to experiment, or follow an Apothecary formula.

Gathering
"The ships have delivered 1 tonne of nails, but little else. Hammers and tools are put to use gathering that which the land offers, the amounte of which is not inconsequential- and those willing to toil have no want of resources."

By taking the gathering profession you may spend 1 Resolve and 10 minutes of roleplay to use the Garden, Farm, Mine, and Lumberyard to take one component; herbs, crops, ore, or wood from the colony’s stores. You may have four hobbyist formula, and 'harvest' four basic resources in upkeep.

Hearthcraft ©

By taking the Hearthcraft profession you gain 2 random hearthcraft formula and may spend 1 Resolve and 10 minutes of roleplay to experiment, or follow a Hearthcraft formula. You have 2 extra upkeep to spend on crafting as well.

Hunting
"Our harvest being gotten in, our governor sent Sara Cauley and three of her men fowling, that so we might after a special manner rejoice together after we had gathered the fruit of our labors. They four in one day killed as much fowl as, with a little help beside, served the company almost a week.”

By taking the Hunting profession you gain two random hunting formula and you may spend 1 Resolve and 10 minutes of trapping roleplay at the game path to take one Animal Product from the colony’s stores.

"I have been often wishing for a number of stalwart birlers, to plane down these gigantic oak and other forest trees, but which we will be obliged to cut down ourselves by degrees and with almost incredible labor and exertion.”

By taking the Woodworking profession you gain two random woodworking formula and you may spend 1 Resolve and 10 minutes of roleplay to experiment, or follow a woodworking formula. You have 2 extra upkeep to spend on crafting as well.

Smithing ©
"We have in this place now established a lucrative trade in ore and metal goods, together with a large assortment of other useful and necessary articles.”

By taking the Smithing profession you gain 2 random Smithing formula and may spend 1 Resolve and 10 minutes of roleplay to experiment, or follow a Smith formula. You have 2 extra upkeep to spend on crafting as well.

Stitching ©
"One half tonne of flax will carry us through to the fall, and by winter, we are expected to have a large collection of textiles and sturdy coats with which to survive the winter cold." 

By taking the Stitching profession you gain 2 random Stitching formula and may spend 1 Resolve and 10 minutes of roleplay to experiment, or follow a Stitching formula. You have 2 extra upkeep to spend on crafting as well.
